Subjects Taught
1st Grade

I began my degree with an associates degree from Dyersburg State Community College. When my son began high school and my daughter began middle school, I returned to college and received my Bachelor of Science in Interdisciplinary Studies in 2003 from Lambuth University.

I will begin my 13th year of teaching this year. I taught 3rd grade for 2 and 1/2 years in Jackson Madison County before coming to Humboldt.  I have taught first grade at both East and Stigall. I have had the priviledge of also holding the positions of reading interventionist/librarian, and kindergarten teacher at Stigall. Most of my experience has been in the first grade classroom and I can't imagine teaching anything else!

Humboldt City schools has been my teaching home for 13 years now.  I have spent most of those years teaching first grade and I love it!!  I am by all accounts a children's book addict and love to share my passion for books and reading with my students.  This is the perfect grade to teach for that because the students are just beginning to learn to read and understand books.  Nothing is more exciting than seeing one of my babies read their first solo book!

My life outside of school continues to grow and change as well.  While I am a proud mom of two amazing grown children, the greatest joy in my life comes from being a Mimi!!  My son Andrew  and his wife Jen live in Shelbyville with their adorable one year old daughter Makinley Jordan or MJ as she is loving called.  She is busy learning about her world and loves anything to do with a ball but I guess that isn't surprising when both of your parents are basketball coaches!  MJ's other passion is animals and she keeps me in stitches making all the animal sounds!  My daughter, Katelyn and her husband Drew live in Houston Texas and are the parents of my oldest and youngest grandbabies.  Their daughter Lily Caroline just turned two and she is ALWAYS busy!!  She loves books, puzzles, puppies and playing outdoors!!!  Her little brother Miller MacGuire was just born in April of this year and he already thinks his big sister is amazing.  I hate I don't live close enough to these babies to see them all the time but I do make use of modern technology to stay  in  touch with all three and travel as much as I can to play.
